Echinacea Purpurea

Echinacea purpurea is a flowering plant native to North America, best known for its traditional use in boosting the immune system. Often referred to simply as echinacea, this herb is commonly used to reduce the duration and severity of colds and respiratory infections. Both the roots and aerial parts (leaves, stems, and flowers) are used in teas, tinctures, and supplements.

Directions

1. Boil 1 cup (8 oz) of water.

2. Add 1–2 teaspoons of dried echinacea purpurea (leaf, flower, or root).

3. Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes.

4. Strain before drinking.

5. Drink up to 2–3 cups daily at the onset of cold or flu symptoms.
